Phil's team worked flat out during the summer to complete a ground floor extension with open plan living area, new kitchen and underfloor heating. In addition they constructed a large garden building, fully serviced. As with any major piece of work, some problems were encountered, but Phil was very good at finding solutions which we could agree on. The project was competed on time, a little over budget, but then we added some items as we went along. The final snag list was resolved in good order and we are very happy with the finished work. One thing that helped significantly, was Phil's detailed spreadsheet breaking out all of the costs, and enabled the project costs and stage payments to be easily monitored.

I had to find a builder urgently as I was due to have bifold doors installed the following week and needed RSJ and knock through through 2 internal walls as well as creating the space on the external wall for the doors. Phil was sympathetic to my predicament and was able to carry out the work with 4 days notice. His team arrived early every day and worked solidly, they were also friendly and entertaining. Without doubt, this is the best go-to building company for private property maintenance I have found. Keep their number in your contacts list. I have used Phil Oakley Construction for several property maintenance jobs through the years, ranging from minor electrical work to tiling and more extensive brickwork. In every case, I have had honest and sound appraisals of the job, with transparent fair pricing. I found them by chance several years ago when I had a longstanding troublesome ingress of rain water, the root cause of which, four other contractors had failed to correctly identify and fix. Phil’s tradesman assessed and identified the cause within five minutes of arriving on site and explained to me the cause and remedy in layman’s terms. Needless to say, they completed the job promptly and efficiently.

I have used Phil Oakley Contractors on and off for the last 15 years to maintain my house (everything from a new kitchen ceiling with recessed lights to preserving bargeboards and soffits). I have never found them to be less than excellent. My latest problem was a leaking roof. Phil came himself to assess the job on the day I phoned him and his roofer came when he said he would and did an excellent job. The one thing you want above all else from a builder is reliability and with Phil you get that in spades. I would certainly recommend them to anyone.

We had our kitchen and dining room knocked through by removing a huge fireplace and a new kitchen fitted, as well as a new toilet and sink in our downstairs bathroom, and a remodel of the bedroom above. Phil was great at providing qualified people to do the work, anticipating problems and overcoming them quickly. Nothing was too much trouble and even when changes were made last minute he was able to flex and change to accommodate these. The house was left tidy and the teams working here were trustworthy, dedicated and we really enjoyed having them around. Our home has been transformed from a tired 3 bed semi into a beautiful modern functioning home . Phil is a good communicator always happy to help and offer good advice. His team are hard working and nothing is too much trouble. We had our kitchen knocked through ,new kitchen fitted, underfloor heating , (this is a winner) new bathroom , plastering throughout , new windows, hallway tiled and a WC put in downstairs.
